Site work also included pavement, landscaping, fencing and gates, as well as mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and a fire suppression system. A diesel pump and 25,000 gallon fire pump were also installed.

The remote location and weather proved challenging over the 12-month span of this project. SSB crews had to contend with heavy winter rains as well as 95°+ summer heat—not to mention special visits from local wildlife like rattlesnakes and wolf spiders!

Today, fire crews that previously had to work out of a single bay at the CalFire station have plenty of space for truck parking and volunteer training and comfortable living quarters with great views of the coastal mountains. SSB is proud to be part of this important community project that helps ensure the safety of people and property in south Monterey County.
