SSB History

Building confidence since 1945

SSB wouldn’t be where it is today without the hard work of the past. The company was founded as Salinas Steel Builders in 1945 by Homer Goldman and is now a third-generation family business that offers a wide range of services throughout the west coast.

In 1960, SSB expanded from being an exclusive Butler Building dealer (dealing mostly in steel) and became a full-service design/build general contractor. Working on a wide range of projects, SSB became involved in all types of construction, including wood-frame, concrete tilt-up, and masonry in addition to steel.

Warren D. Goldman bought the family business in 1981 and carried on the tradition until 1990, when he sold it to his sons, Jeff and Stephen. Today, SSB continues to adapt to the latest in building and construction advances to remain the standard bearer for quality construction.

To meet the needs of its clients, SSB has also expanded into new service areas, including roof coating, solar panel cleaning, painting, pressure washing, and general maintenance and improvements. No job is too big or too small!
