Founded in 1995 in Salinas, Taylor Farms has become one of America’s top producers of fresh salads and other healthy foods. The company hired SSB Construction to build a state-of-the-art Employee Services Building at its primary production facility on Abbott Street in Salinas, CA.

The new 25,000 SF structure was designed around a dramatic entryway and two-story atrium space with ample natural light. The project broke ground in Fall 2022 and was completed in early 2024. Our crews managed to complete the first phase of construction during a very rainy winter—and kept the structure dry even without any finished exterior or roof.

The new building features expansive employee break areas, restrooms, and lockers, as well as an elevator and space to welcome visitors. Other administrative functions include a Human Resources suite, Quality Control Lab, and offices for Harvest/Ag Operations, Engineering, Production Management, Purchasing, Logistics, and Training.

Finished in glass and a sleek metal skin, the building serves as a central gathering place for the entire facility. Bio-swales and concrete planters provide both natural beauty and a functional place to collect storm water runoff so it can soak into the ground and filter out pollution.
