Position: Construction Project Engineer II / Associate Project Manager

Location: Salinas, CA

Compensation: $80,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year plus benefits package, including 401(k), dental insurance, health savings account, and health insurance.

SSB Construction in Salinas, CA is seeking a Construction Project Engineer II / Associate Project Manager to help manage multiple commercial clients and projects. We would love to have you join our dynamic and growing team!

  • The Construction Project Engineer II / Associate Project Manager provides project support for large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects, from pre-construction to completion, in addition to managing smaller projects.
  • This position involves travel to the field to provide direction, leadership and support for job crews while overseeing the execution of work by field crews and subcontractors and ensuring that all work is completed to SSB’s quality and safety standards.


  • Schedule Management: Create and manage construction schedule from initial development through completion. Provide timely updates on any changes or impacts. Develop solutions to present to clients.
  • Cost Management: Assist in creating the overall project budget and manage costs throughout construction. Provide reporting updates as needed or requested by client. Review overall job cost of project and prepare a monthly report analyzing the projected job costs and man-hour productions.
  • Contract Administration: Understand all contract documents and oversee change management, closeout, and reporting. Prepare and be responsible for all administrative tasks as required for the assigned project(s), including job setup, all logs, submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs. Assist in research for prime contract change orders and subcontractor change orders. Prepare and assist with the billing process and procurement of payment from the client with oversight from supervisor.
  • Permit Coordination: Assist in obtaining all necessary building operational and safety permits for the project.
  • Teamwork: Support and receive support from other team members to resolve issues and maximize team success.
  • Safety: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and implement measures such as hazard identification and safety training programs on the job site to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve skill development goals and exceed client expectations
  • Knowledge of modern construction management tools and software
  • 3 years related experience, including project administration
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specs
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
